Survey: Local hiring expected to rise in third quarter

More Central Iowa employers plan to increase staffing levels in the third quarter than said they did the previous quarter, according to a survey released last week by ManpowerGroup. According to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, 27 percent of employers in the Des Moines-West Des Moines metropolitan statistical area plan to increase staff levels, and only 3 percent expect to decrease staff levels, for a net employment outlook of 24 percent. That is up from the previous quarter’s net employment outlook of 15 percent, but down from the same period last year, when the outlook was 26 percent. The state’s net employment outlook was 18 percent, down from 21 percent the previous quarter.
